Our “Why?”
Hi! I’m Jessica and I am the owner and founder of Luma Aesthetics and Wellness LLC. I currently live in Ladson, SC with my two year old son, Wyatt, my husband, Steven and our dog, Bailey.
Becoming a mom changed everything — and I don't just mean the late nights or the new routines. It changed the way I saw myself.
After having my child, I noticed my body wasn't bouncing back the way I expected. The weight didn't come off, no matter what I tried. I'd start a new routine, feel motivated for a few weeks, and then life would get in the way and I'd be right back where I started. It felt like an endless cycle, and honestly, it was exhausting.
But it wasn't just the weight. I started noticing changes in my face — things felt different, looked different, in ways I couldn't quite explain to people who hadn't been through it. And little by little, my confidence started slipping away. I'd catch my reflection and feel like I was looking at someone I didn't fully recognize anymore.
If you've felt this way, I want you to know: you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you. These changes are real, they're common, and they deserve to be taken seriously — not brushed off as "just part of motherhood" that you're supposed to quietly accept.
That's exactly why I started Luma Aesthetics and Wellness.
I wanted to build the kind of space I wish I'd had — somewhere judgment-free, where people going through postpartum changes (or any season of life that's left them feeling like a stranger in their own skin) can come and actually be heard. A place where your concerns are taken seriously, where you're met with real solutions instead of dismissive reassurances, and where the goal isn't to chase some impossible standard, but to help you feel like you again.
Confidence isn't vanity. Feeling good in your skin affects how you show up for your family, your work, and yourself. My own postpartum journey taught me how deeply tied our physical wellbeing is to our mental and emotional health — and how much it matters to have support that understands that connection.
Luma was built on that understanding. Every service, every conversation, every plan we create is rooted in one simple goal: helping you feel like the best version of yourself, on your terms.
If any of this sounds familiar, I'd love for you to come experience what we've built. You deserve a space that sees you, supports you, and helps you feel at home in your own skin again.
With care,
Jessica Canaday & the Luma Aesthetics and Wellness Team
